A Description of the Property

From our strategic plan, St. Stephen's has developed six ministries: Administration, Christian Formation, Evangelism/Outreach, Parish Family, Stewardship and Worship and Music. Each ministry has a leader who is to work with the Vestry and each group within the ministry to accomplish St. Stephen's objectives.

St. Stephen's is located in downtown Liberty at the corner of Trinity and Fannin Streets. The traditional brick building is of Gothic design and is surrounded by a well-maintained lawn and fenced playground. Flowered walkways lead to the inviting lighted red double doors that are ALWAYS open.

Once inside the spacious narthex, another set of lighted double doors leads to a magnificent nave designed in the shape of a cross. Furnishings include a richly stained ornate dark hardwood altar, dark stained pews with seating for 200, hardwood floors, crowned by a high vaulted ceiling with naturally enhanced acoustics which enrich the sounds of worship from the choir, and the largest pipe organ located between Houston and Beaumont. There are special accommodations in the front and rear pews for handicapped or wheelchair-bound worshipers. Looking down on the sanctuary is a balcony used to accommodate congregation overflow. A carpeted Cry Room is equipped with a speaker system, built-in cabinets, and a built-in closeted sink. Spacious and immaculately kept restrooms are discreetly offset from the Church narthex.

The Parish Hall was originally built in 1950. The building has been remodeled several times to include classrooms and offices. The hall can seat approximately 100 people.
